Citizenship Ceremonies

What is a citizenship ceremony?

If you have received a letter from the Home Office confirming that your nationality application has been successful - Congratulations!

Becoming a British Citizen is a major event in someone's life. Successful applicants are awarded Citizenship after making the Oath of Allegiance to the Queen and promising to be a loyal citizen.

The final part of the process is a celebratory ceremony where new British Citizens receive their certificate of naturalisation.

Booking your Citizenship Ceremony

You must attend a Citizenship Ceremony within 11 weeks of receiving your ceremony invitation letter from the Home Office. Guidance on how to book your ceremony will be included in your letter.

Please do not contact the register office until you have received your citizenship invitation.
