Before submitting the application, you should satisfy yourself that he premises meet the Statutory & Additional Requirements and that the conditions are acceptable to you.

All questions on the application from must be answered in full. Giving incomplete answers may dealt the processing of your application. Where supporting documentation has been requested, it must be sent with your application to avoud delays in the processing of your application.

A plan of your premises must be sent with this application. This must clearly show the room(s)/ outdoor space(s) which are intended to be used for ceremonies and the separate room intended to be used for the pre-ceremony interview of the couple. The plans must be drawn to scale of at least 1:100.

As detailed in the guidance notes, ceremonies may only take place in a room/outdoor location approved within the licence. If for some reason, that room/space is unavailable, the licence and therefore the ceremony MAY NOT be transferred to another unlicensed room/outdoor location. For this reason you may to license more than one room/outdoor location on the premises.

Your application will be processed as detailed in section 4 of the guidance notes. No marriage or civil partnership ceremony may take place on the premises until such times as approval has been issued. Registration staff will not take bookings to attend marriage or civil partnership ceremonies until approval has been granted.

If this application is approved, I agree to be bound by East Sussex Registration's guidance notes 'How to become a licesned venue (Approved Marriage Premises) for Civil Maraiage and Civil Partnership' and the statements contained therein. The premises will be inspected for suitability before approval is granted and if this application is successful; will be subject to further inspections at least annually.

A public notice of the application will be made by advertisement on the East Sussex County Council website, with a 21-day period for objections to be made.

The approval, if granted will be for a three-year period, subject to revocation if the conditions of said approval are not met.

The premises must satisfy East Sussex Registration regarding fire precautions, Health & Safety provisions and planning consent.

I have read and understood the East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service guidelines and understand that the Fire Authority will carry out a fire inspection of the premises.

I confirm that no planning permission is necessary for the venue to hold marriage or civil partnership ceremonies on the premises.

Summary of answers

The guidance notes entitled 'How to become a licensed venue (Approved Marriage Premises) for Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership' contains the Statutory Requirements as set out in Schedule 1 of The Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005 and Additional Requirements agreed by East Sussex County Council (ESCC) establishing the criteria that are used in deciding whether premises are suitable for licensing. It also contains the Statutory Conditions as set out in Schedule 2 of the Marriages and Civil Partnership (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005 and the Additional Conditions agreed by ESCC which apply if a licence is granted.
