Ceremonies in East Sussex

Where can we hold our ceremony?

Step 4 – from 19 July 2021:

  • Safety, and maintaining the level of public services we can offer are our priorities.
  • Registrars will wear a face covering.
  • We’re requiring all visitors to East Sussex County Council buildings, including our Register Offices, to continue to wear a face covering in public areas and ceremony rooms (unless exempt).
  • We urge all people attending wedding ceremonies at which we officiate, in any venue, to continue to wear a face covering (unless exempt).

We want you to have your ceremony, your way!

Where you choose to celebrate is a very personal and important decision. East Sussex boasts some of the most picturesque scenery and unique and beautiful venues in the country.

Maybe you have your heart set on a special location that isn't licensed, and holding your ceremony there would be a dream come true. Ceremonies in East Sussex allows you the option to hold your celebration ceremony wherever you want*. This includes the ceremony rooms at any four of our Register Offices, or at any Licensed Venue in East Sussex.

Your celebration ceremony can take place anywhere* in East Sussex. Indoors, outdoors; YES even in your back garden!

If you are wanting an outdoor celebration, there are some things you may want to consider.

Please note to hold your ceremony somewhere other than a Register Office, hire must be arranged with the venue directly. There may be a charge to hire your chosen venue. If your chosen location is outdoors you may need permission from whoever owns the land.
